That matters because the unit of work is changing. The old AppSec loop was scanner output, triage, patch, retest. Daybreak’s described model starts earlier: map the codebase, infer attack paths, and validate the most relevant risks.

That is a different operational posture. It treats software as a live attack surface, not a static artifact waiting for a periodic scan.

2. The patching treadmill is now a systems problem

A model that listens and responds simultaneously has to handle interruption, partial intent, latency, and conversational state differently from a turn-based chatbot. That affects evaluation, UI design, streaming infrastructure, and user trust.

Baidu’s reported cost reduction points to the other side of the build equation. If smaller sub-models can be extracted from a single training run, teams may get more flexibility in matching model size to task.
